Mascot is a modern and spacious student accommodation in Sydney that offers spacious shared apartments and studios on John Street. The property is ideally situated just a 10-minute drive away from Taylor College and an 11-minute drive away from Sydney Flim School.
Apartments in the accommodation are specially designed for students. Each room comes with a comfortable bed, study desk, lamp, bookshelves, and plenty of space for storage and if you prefer more privacy, the studio comes with an en-suite bathroom, a fully fitted kitchen, and more living space. The property provides free high-speed WiFi, on-site maintenance, bike storage, laundry facilities, 24hr CCTV surveillance for safety and security. Students do not need to manage multiple bills as all utility bills are included in the rent. Mascot also has fantastic social spaces such as a communal lounge where you can spend time with your friends, a coffee bar, an amazing outdoor area, a gym to workout and stay fit, a multimedia room, and peaceful study spaces.
The property is based in one of the popular areas of the city and it is surrounded by many restaurants, cafes, and bars. Mascot Kebab & Deli is just around the corner to eat delicious food or you can visit the Sumo Sushi for the best sushi in town. Woolworths supermarket is a few steps away so students don’t need to travel far for grocery shopping and supplies. Platform 62 bar is also a short walk away to drink and party with friends.
The property is well-connected to public transport with multiple bus stops available in the vicinity. Mascot Station, Coward St, Stand B bus stop is just 2 minutes away on foot and Lionel Bowen Park, Coward St bus stop is a 4-minute walk away. Furthermore, the Mascot train station is a 2-minute walk away from the property, making traveling around the city easier.

A bond equal to 4 weeks rent is required to be paid at the time of signing your contract to live at Iglu. This amount is then sent to the relevant state’s Rental Tenancy Bond Authority where it is held until after you vacate the property. It is then returned to you less any amounts you may owe to Iglu, such as unpaid rent or damages, at the end of your contract.
The price of your rent is fixed for the 6 or 12-month period that you sign a contract for. If you decide to stay on beyond your current lease, the weekly fee of the new contract may increase – any rate increase will always be advertised in advance.
All rooms at Iglu are offered on a 6 or 12-month long lease. Before your current contract comes to an end, we will contact you to see if you would like to re-sign to stay with us for another 6 or 12 months.

Your weekly rent is required to be paid fortnightly, and you are responsible for ensuring that your rent is paid a minimum of two weeks in advance at all times in accordance with your Residential Tenancy Agreement.

This varies across our properties. If a room is shown as being ‘Available Now’ you can discuss the contract start date directly with the property. Where a specific contract start date is shown this is the date your contract will start, regardless of when you physically move into Iglu. Where a specific contract start date is set, you will have the opportunity to advise your ‘Expected Arrival Date’, which must be after the contract start date, when you finalise your contract on our resident portal. Some properties do have set check-in dates and they will advise you of these prior to finalising your application.
To maintain our contract cycles, your contract will normally run for a full 6 or 12-months. This many vary in some instances and the property will advise if this is the case. Of course, you will always be given the opportunity to renew your contract and your property team will contact you in advance of the end date to advise the options.

You are responsible for supplying your own crockery, glassware, cooking and eating utensils and any other kitchen gadgets (we provide kettles and toasters at the properties noted below, and all Iglu ovens and stove tops are electric). Other items you may need include coat hangers, cleaning supplies, washing powder, toiletries plus all your personal clothing etc.Toasters and kettles are provided at: Iglu Brisbane City, Iglu Central, Iglu Chatswood, Iglu Flagstaff Gardens, Iglu Melbourne City, Iglu Redfern, Iglu South Yarra and Iglu Summer Hill.
